The secret art of washing hammocks

A Bushman’s life does not exempt you from the manners of a gentleman. You know it, so does your hammock. It may happen that one day your faithful companion of numerous travels will start begging for refreshment. Ashamed of his look (even in front of squirrels ) he’ll need your suport. Just take matters into your own hands. Keep calm and don’t worry. There is no need of beeing a PhD in chemistry. Either no fancy technology from outer space is required. To make the washing process run smoothly, just follow these simply rules:

1. Using an entirely free technique, remove the hammock from the cover.
2. Remove the carabiners from the hammock, they do not need to be washed.
3. Add a mild detergent to warm water (about 30°C). Do not use any strong washing chemistry or fabric softeners.
4. It is best to handle the classic, oldschool way – by hand. However, if your hands are so busy (doing other things right now) that you need to use a washing machine, engage (activate) the 30°C short washing programme. Do not use a spin cycle.
5. Dry the hammock immediately after laundering by hanging it loose or spreading (stretching) out on a clean, dry surface.
6. Reattach the carabiners to the dry hammock.

7. Keep head up ! You and your hammock are ready to show off to the squirrels.
